adding up seconds and minutes

Hi does anyone know a formaul..or if there is a caluctor online that allows you to add up sconds and minutes and work out the total...cos a normal calculator of course works in units of 100 I need to work in units of 60..thanks

There are only 60 secs in one minute and therefore 3600 secs in one hour. So why don't you just divide and/or multiply by 60 as appropriate.
Why can't you do this on a normal calculator? I am intrigued!!!

If you have a scientific calculator you can change the base to 60 (i think that is the term) I remember having to do it in maths at school. I do agree with you though parky!!

Use a calculator with a Degrees, Minutes, and Seconds facility. (Button may show DMS or � ' '' )
Enter hours, press the DMS button
Enter minutes, press the DMS button
Enter seconds, press the DMS button
Store the resulting decimal number in memory.
Repeat the first three steps for the next time entry
Press + then press Recall Memory
Press =
Press SHIFT and the DMS button.
Display shows the sum of the two times

Click on start lower left corner
Place cursor over All Programs just above start
Move your cursor over Accessories near top of list
Move your cursor over to the right and down to Calculator
Click on Calculator to open (or if you prefer, right click to pin to start menu or send to desktop for easy access)

When you see the Calculator click on view and select Scientific
Locate the dms button.
This button converts the value in the display from H.decimal to H.MMSSdec
Or inversely from H.MMSS to H.decimal if the Inv box is checked.

Add 12:34:56 (12h 34m 56s) to
00:05:47 (5m 47s)

C Clear

Enter first time (12:34:56) in this format 12.3456 . . .
12.3456

Convert to decimal for adding . . .
Inv dms

+

Enter time to add (00:05:47)
0.0547

Convert to decimal . . .
Inv dms

=

Convert result back to HH.MMSS
dms

12.4043 represents 12:40:43

Done!

Note: digits beyond the fourth decimal place are fractions of a second.
