Dolly Parton Concert
Not really a question, more an observation. Went to see Dolly at Sheffield Arena last Saturday. She was excellent as expected although did feel the 'off the cuff' chatter was a bit rehearsed. Main gripe for me was the shortness of the show. tickets were expensive and I think she only did six songs after the interval. When she went off and the house lights went up, I turned to my husband and said 'is that it?'. No encore, just back out into the cold and it wasn't even ten o clock!
OK that's it, got it off my chest.

Excellent show, but agreed that perhaps expected more than the 1hour 30 minutes she was on for. Main concern was that she was miming to at least two of her songs that I saw. There are debates going on on other fora about exactly how much of the show was "pre-recorded"
Debates are on Folk & Acoustic message board on Radio 2 section of BBC website. There are a few links on various posts that lead to other sites.
I was 4 rows from the stage and was close enough to see that on two occasions that I spotted, she was definately miming ( unless she can hit a high note withough opening her mouth or sing lyrics without moving her lips).
Her unoficial website does say that she "pre-records" stuff for "live" shows and apparently there was a "no close up" order on the big screens, one reason for which would be to cover up any miming.
