My mum asked a good question the other night which I thought I'd ask on here. After watching corrie and Deidre knowimng what Tracey had done, if you were in that situation and knew your child had commited a bad crime would you lie for them or tell the truth?

I would try and keep my daughter out of prison as best I could though. Either by trying to lie, or by selling the house and getting a good lawyer.
Not that little OBonio would do such a thing.

I would report her immediately to the authorities.
A crime has been committed , and a most heinous one at that.
Remember someones child has been killed by a thoroughly unscrupulous and devious woman.
We are all as im sure you know only too well , somebodys children too.
The gallows is the place for her like.
Tighten the slip knot and lay not a flower on her grave.

What if your child was to murder another of your children?
Would you lie then too?
Would your concience be any more bothered?
If you could do that then what would that say about you and your morals?
Funkey moped so you could forgive murdering someone and lie to cover it up , but not a rape?
Bizarre.

not bizzare....
i believe circumstance would make the differance...
i know of a young girl that was the victim of multiple rape. she was severely beaten and treated worse than any person should ever have to go through.
it wrecked not only her life, but it also tortured her familys life for years after.....
i know murder is almost the ultimate crime, but in my opinion,(in some circumstances) rape IS worse than death...

Rape is worse than death?
Did i read that correctly?
Im sure many women who have gone through the torture of a sexual assault or a rape are glad that they survived and werent murdered and perhaps had the chance to see their attackers sent to jail for a long stretch.
There does come a point where you wonder though funky moped what would you prefer if given a one or the other choice.
The murder of yourself or a loved one , or the rape of yourself or a loved one.
Rape is im sure a despicable crime but i dont think you can decide between rape or death.
A bit of a leap of faith on your part and probably one made in haste.

I would lie for my kids as long as it wasn't for paedophilia and my parents would lie for me.
It is hard though. I know my kids (at the mo) and my parents know me. So if I or they committed such a crime it would be out of character. Which makes it a lot easier for your loved ones to lie for you. I also think it's instinct.

Yep....I agree with you there funky. I worked in a mental hospital and had to see day after day the long term effects of rape. Most of the victims wished they were dead anyway. looking at how some will live the rest of there lives I can't help but agree that some of them would have been better off dead.
funky is entitles to his opinion. But really no-one will ever be in the situation to say which is worse, fortunately I have never been raped and well if I had been murdered I cant say which is worse. To me both are equally as bad a crime as the other, whats worse with murder is that they to have a family, so maybe while thinking about grassing on them you should think about the dead persons family.
The phrase warpig3 was thinking of is crime (pronounced creem) passionel, which means to be driven to murder through love or jealousy.
To answer your question 4get, I really could not say how I would react in that situation and I hope I never find myself in a situation where I would have to make that decision.
In the past I have had very staunch beliefs in how I would or wouldn't react in certain situations and when I have found myself having to stand by those beliefs I have realised that things are not always so black and white. More than once in my life I have been forced to reassess my opinion and I have learnt that you can't really know for sure how you will react to something until it really happens to you. No matter how strong your previous opinion, you have to judge each situation on it's current circumstances.
