I didnt think it hurt that much. the first time LOL is quite sore but you can bear it.

I have been getting waxing done religiously for the last 6 years! Shaving is a sin! It is very difficult to be persistant, but so worth it! I used to have quite a full bikini line but since having it done the hair is much thinner and i have it done every 4 weeks. It was quite painful the first time, but you should have it done professionally, otherwise you will be put off! It will be quicker, tidier and less painful. You should avoid having any waxing done around the time of your month, or if you are tired as this causes more pain and your highest pain threshold is around midday, so opt for a lunchtime appointment if possible! I guess it makes no major difference, but every little hepls, especially if it is your first time! x
I agree with the guys who said you should have your bikini waxed for the first time by a professional.
I have been using waxing as a method of hair removal for many years, and it is really good because with the pass of time, makes your hair thinner and consequently easier to remove. But I can't deny the pain is always there! Even more in the bikini area which is quite sensitive. It IS worthy, though, because it's some minutes of pain, for many days of having everything clean there!
Try not to wax yourself 1 week before you have the menstruation, not also 1 week after, as for my own experience, it seemed to hurt more. If you REALLY want to give a try at home, be careful to clean your skin very well before doing it, don't pass any cream because you could have an allergical reaction to the wax touching the cream... and put some powder on the skin before the wax, the powder helps the skin pores to get dry and lose a little of our natural oils, so the wax sticks better and removes the hair without sacrifice.
Well, hope I helped!

I'm a Brazilian, Sasha, so while I was there in Rio de Janeiro I ALWAYS had the brazilian, which is not exactly their standard bikini waxing (so it's funny for me that it is called brazilian waxing here in the UK) , but they will do it if you ask. I can't say it's painless, but like I said to lola, there are better days to do it (always far away in time from your menstruation!!!) and the area gets so clean and the skin so soft that afterwards you think it's worthy... but it also depends a lot on each one's resistence to pain, my mum kind of shouts when she goes, and I just take it easy and breathe deeply so it distracts me (apart from the usual gossiping we had there!)
