Kids walking in the road

Is it just this area - east midlands -or does it happen everywhere...
You're driving along a street in a big van-can be any street ,not just quiet streets- and suddenly a youth(or several) decide to stroll across the road v-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y. Enough to make you slow down to almost stop. All the time they grin defiantly -cant be touched see.
Has this happened to you?Is it confined to vans?
What would(do) you do?

The one that frightens me is the number of women (never seen a bloke do it) who stick their pushchairs (with child in) out into the road to try and make you stop. Don't they relise what danger they are putting their kids in or how much damage will be done to my 32T truck?!
BTW, the answer to the above is 'none at all!'

happened to me once when i was a learner...i was coming around a bend - a curve in the road, not a new road, and these 3 girls just stepped out...one of them smugly started sneering that i hadn't indicated - as though this 15 year old was teaching me to drive!
i shouted out the window, as they strolled across, that i didn't need to as it was single road with a bend in it, i was not turning into a new road, and when she grew up and was old enought to drive, she would learn that, and in future, she should check the road markings.
she just looked at me.
(there was another road that appeared to lead straight on from the road i was on, so i can see why she thought that though)

Well ,the horn is employed vigorously ,as is the brake ,obviously ( haven't yet run anyone over) .
It is a BIG VAN which carries vital medical supplies to doctors and clinics so the possibility is very small that they haven't seen it approaching.
TOLEMAN .....its South Derbyshire area
Its just the sheer .um. nastiness of them .And no,its not a protest on green issues from them, outside a school nor yet a 'reclaim the street 'declaration -its a power thing I think. Or possibly Its more an "I can do this and you cant touch me" thing.
I do apply the accelerator swiftly and sharply but why should I?
I just hate their stupid, vacuous faces that defy me to continue on my path.
