I ned to pay a deposit for my holiday but I am renting an apartment directly from the owner they have requested the deposit is paid into their bank account. My bank say that the only way I can do this is to do a Telegraphic Transfer which will cost me 25 is there another way? Can I get a postal order in Euro's or if I sent a cheque in GBP will they incur any charges when they deposit it?? TIA

Yes, they will incur a charge if you send them a cheque in GBP. Surely another 25 is not too much if you are paying for a holiday.

I don't know about postal orders in Euros, perhaps someone else can help with that part.

25 is 25 and if there is a way not to pay it then I would rather do that- obviuosly if there is no other way I will pay it. Just checked Paypal and if they're OK with that I can do it that way.
Can you pay by credit card?
You can get a 'postal order' in , but not from a post office - any bank will do one - ask for a foreign currency cheque. It will cost, but less than 25. Thomas Cook also do them - it used to be 10 but that was years ago.

Depending how much it is cash in the post might be an alternative - under 5 for recorded delivery including postage.
If the person can be trusted I send cash for that sort of amount , in euro notes. That way the banks do not gate a cut.
HSBC charge us 5 for trading foreign cheque, and make a cut on the rate!
