My daughter has a chest infection and shes an asthmatic, she has been prescribed amoxicillen but shes allergic to penicillen, is this drug ok for her does anyone know, maybe someone else is allergic the same but has taken amoxicillen without any problems. Thanks
Of course I cant really say if your daughter will be allergic to the amoxicillin but can tell you that I am a severe asthmatic and allergic to penicillin and drugs in the penicillin group ,including amoxicillin. All the best to your daughter .
I'm allergic to penicillen and this includes amoxycillin. There are apparantly 3 or 4 different 'families' of antibiotics, and amoxyll is one of them. Check before she takes them - the side effects are horrible!
I'm assuming that if your daughter has been prescribed amoxycillin, that prescription would of come from a doctor anyway?? So surely a doctor wouldn't prescribe something that he/she thought dangerous?
My daughter has been previously over dosed by our gp, in which case she was rushed to hospital by ambulance which the doctor called as he realised what had happened, so i dont trust anyone, but as it goes shes fine so far on the meds. x
I'm allergic to penicillen and all its substitutes - there are some other types of antibiotics they can give her - they just aren't as strong/immediately effective as penicillen. If in doubt I would refer back to your gp.
