Help with MS Word on a Mac

Hi All

I am using the Microsoft version of Word on a Mac and I want to put the word "Draft" in the background (like a watermark). Any idea how I can do this?

I can't think of any reason why it should be any different from the PC version of MS Word. If so:

Format > Background > Printed Watermark > Text Watermark > (Set variables) > Apply > Close.

Hi Chris. I was interested in your answer to the watermark question. However, on my XP pc, using Format>Background does not give me the option to add Watermark. All I get is a colour pallete. When I need a watermark I click on the View tab first., followed by Header and Footer, etc.

I'm confused (but that's not unusual - it's a normal state for me!).

Although I'm using Windows ME, I've got the Windows XP Office suite. I've just checked and the version of Word included is 2002. I got the instructions for inserting a watermark simply by clicking 'Help' and searching for 'watermark'. I then tried it to check that I'd understood the instructions. (It definitely works for me!).

If you can't work it out by reading either my post or Sir.prize's, I suggest using the 'Help' menu. That's what it's there for!

Hi again Chris. These computer applications work in mysterious ways. The following is what I get when I go to Help and type in Watermark then search.

Add a watermark to a printed document
To print a watermark, you must insert it into a header or footer. The watermark is printed wherever you place it on the page � it doesn't have to be confined to the area at the top or bottom of the page.

On the View menu, click Header and Footer.

On the Header and Footer toolbar, click Show/Hide Document Text to hide the text and graphics in the main document.


Insert a graphic � a drawing object such as an AutoShape, clip art, WordArt, or picture � or insert a text box.


On the Header and Footer toolbar, click Close.

Ah well - as long as we succeed, that is the fun of computing.
