No, they went directly to Ellis Island from the Atlantic Ocean. Ellis Island was the first dry land they hit before being processed and examined for suitability to enter the USA..................Noboby went back in the opposite direction from Manhatten to Ellis Island so they wouldn't need accomodation???? Does that help???
