army chain of command

am i right in these three assumptions

1 - when being interviewed for the army you are interviewed by a general

2 - when you go for an induction weekend or whatever it is with a brigadier

3 - when you go for basic training it is with a sergeant.

that right? are there more steps that i have missed out?
do you ever speak to or see anybody else?

I suggest you type "army careers office" into google, and pick your way through all the useful sites there.

If you live near a big town, visit your local Army Careers Office.

Are you talking about joining as an Officer, or just as an ordinary soldier?

Initial interviews are done at Careers Office and can be any rank, though possibly an officer interviewing a potential officer, but normal interviews could be done by a senior rank.

Induction weekend, haven't a clue....though I would think it highly unlikely a Brigadier would interview potential ordinary soldiers.

In basic training there are a number of training staff that you would have, but you do normally have a platoon Sergeant who is in nominal charge of you!!
