Drugs - Gatwick
9 Answers
This morning on GMTV I saw a brief story about a drugs find at Gatwick this morning, involving West Indians, Gambians and Sierra Leone-(ians?!), and cocaine and canabis. Anyone else see this story? I can't find the story anywhere!

It wasn't just cannabis natalie-1982 therewas 18kg.of cocaine, street value about 1.i million pounds.
I suppose you think it was being brought in for the good of people's health,do you.
I have seen the results of cannabis smoking and I certainly wasn't under the impression it was doing any good for the people involved .
Have you thought about the damage drugs do to the community as a whole , families destroyed, kids abused, crime is rampant to pay for it and guns, knives etc are in daily crime use.
Oh no I'm sorry but if you can't get a high just from being alive and able to do more lawful activities and need drugs to bolster your esteeem then you're not worth much. Rant over .

I don't disagree with you about drugs dolly, I live on an estate rife with heroin addicts and related crime including a massive gun and knife culture, it's something I experience day to day within my family and my next door neighbours as well as working with an agency trying to support before and enforce following offences.
I just don't think that death is a particularly appropriate penalty that's all. Rant over.

I think longer sentences and more care to be taken that drugs to not infiltrate the prison system would be a start.
If the death penalty worked surely so many people wouldn't stll be smuggling drugs through parts of Asia like you mentioned and risking the death penalty.
Nobody leaves school thinking "By the time I am 30 I would like to have track marks up my arms, weigh less than a child and have to wear nappies because of my heroin addiction". Unfortunately, without proper education and with easy access to cheap, hard drugs, it is a culture that will continue, and one that I don't think will stop by giving dealers the death penalty.
It is the addicts that want the drugs and if one person is killed for selling / smuggling them, the next person will come along and do it in their place, money will always be made n this trade until people don't want it anyway more.
Where do think giving smugglers the death penalty will get us? (aside from making relations with other countries even more frought than they already are)
