Date Next Week
5 Answers
I have a date next week, the first one since my ex left nearly 2 years ago (been putting life on hold to a bit to concentrate on our child). This guy is a friend of a friend and we have been emailing each other for a week or so. They are chatty, light hearted, funny emails so we have got a good basis to work on. I am soooo nervous, it's ridiculous. I am going to his town to see him (I have terrible visions of bumping onto my ex if he comes to mine! - he would just abuse us). Can anyone give me any pointers on how to go on a first date without screwing it up, what to talk about etc. Haven't done this for so long. Thanks.

Just treat it as if you were going out with a good friend. After all, you have both been emailing each other.
Keep it lighthearted as you have been doing in your emails and be yourself. Also, if you can, make it a fun evening.
I was in the same position a few years ago and came very close to not turning up as I was so nervous. I am now married to that wonderful man and very happy.

Just be yourself as you are on email, afterall thats the 'you' that he's gotten to like and get to know? i bet he will be nervous too? Just dont have too much to drink and start babbling (not that i know you its just that sometimes nerves can get the better and people start to chatter unecessarily?
I wish you good luck and let us know how it goes!!!
And finally, first dates can often be crap, but can still go on to be good relationships! Go for it xx

hey !
the issue about bumping into your ex - could you not go to a country pub or somewhere out of town firstly
also it is so natural for everyone to get so nervous on dates , but you do have a good start with the emails etc , you will be fine , talk about music , his work , your child , favourite films and it should all flow naturally, you have just got out of the habit thats all
u will be fine , enjoy it take it as it comes - if it don't work out its refreshed your senses on what its like to be in the dating game
its an experience !! enjoy and good luck !!!xx
