i need dental work done two teeth capped and a bit more, which comes to a price of 780, THEY say they cannot afford to do this on nhs, and i have to pay this my self . can they do this, or can i ask them to do it on nhs.
i dont think the nhs covers caps or crowns - the nhs would probably cover to have your tooth out and leave a gap, if it was needed, but to replace with a cap or crown would be considered cosmetic
You can definitely get crowns on the NHS. I have had crowns & veneers and I have checked on the NHS website to make sure there have been no further changes since mine were done many years ago. The cost is 194 . If they are saying they cannot afford to do this, maybe they have run our of money for the current year.
take a holiday to thailand and have it done there at a fifth of the price, nice clean hospitals, thorough with their work, etc., i go every year and get my teeth sorted, same with glasses, cheap as chips, proper eye test, new modern frames and they are ready next day, its the way to go i tell you.
I know this isn't the thing to say but, my step dad was hitting a nail when it broke off and hit him it the tooth and after a couple of days the cap fell off. He had insurance and blagged another tooth was broken by the nail too. Cost him 25 excess.
forget Thailand - I dont know how much a return fair is, andhotel as well as the teeth...
get your teeth done and pay for it.
and then having had your teeth put back, ask of a quote for dentai insurance, and then pay it. There are aboutthree scales depending on what your teeth are like,
I pay about 14 a month
and then and then -- this is the real saver - when you have tooth ache or the cap drops off or a filling drops out, you ring up, and the receptionis says - can you come in this morning ? or...at 08 45 ?
rather than...he's verybusy....is next week OK ?
I know this is not a Blairite-Blair-is-good-for-the-NHS posting, here we are oop North and this is life.
Crowns uninsured are about 1000 each
Oh, and forget Polish dentists in Krakow can do it in 30s for 75p and a gallon of petrol....
