African drums

Hi, there is a theme tune that has haunted me for years. The ITV program had a similar time slot to The Tomorrow People and Magpie. The show revolved around some kind of African drum with special powers, if I remember correctly it was a tall bongo type. Can anyone tell me the show please ?

I recall a kid's programme late 70's? It started off with 2 kid's staying at a manor house which was open to visitor's so part's of rooms were roped off where dummy's in period costume sat around. There was an African drum and when the young boy banged on it for fun all the dummy's came to life but could'nt see the kids. There was also a young black dummy,male and he came to life as well. Im sure it was a different tale every week but I cant think what it was called sorry:-(
