Money paid in to bank

I got �270 paid into my bank in november from a company i don't know. I told my bank the situation at the time and they said since the check came from another bank i had to wait until they noticed the error. It has now been six months. Is the money mine now or do i still have to wait?

No it's not yours. Your Bank are talking rubbish though - they can trace where the payment came from and contact them, I'd go back in and see them.

You are not obliged to return it afer six years have elapsed from the date the last query was made by you or the other party. However, I agree with Cheekychops. Your bank should have asked you if your wanted to refuse payment.
