Hi all, i hope someone can help me.
i need to know how i go about getting my ex boyfriend off of the tenancy. i am 18 and have lived in the property for over a year, i paid all expenses for the private property including the deposit and tenancy drafting ups. can you tell me whether i can legally get him out of my property???

I was in Council property and wanted to get my husband off the tenancy as we were splitting up. I got a form from the council which he had to sign and they sorted it all out for me. I would ask the landlord first and take it from there. Good luck!
Talk to your landlord (or his agent) and tell them the situation. You may need to prove that you can afford the rent on your own - if you can do this then there would seem to be no reason why the landlord wouldn't change the tenancy agreement into your name alone.
If you were 17 when you took on the tenancy I'm surprised that the landlord took you on to be honest as he/she would have had problems legally getting the money from you if you defaulted.

Yes i found out about my legal obligation to the tenancy agreement at the age of 17, i was on the agreement but i also had a guarantor, i should imagine this was done to recover any loss of rent or any problem which could arise from a 17 yr old dwelling in their property. But none the less, i believe i was not legally allowed to enter any form of contract at the age of 17, as you have to be 18 to do so, like you said. Anyway fortunate enough i work for Barclays and have a steady job, so hopefully i could easily proove my ability to pay the rent alone.
