do you have to ask for the item above from the Pharasist or can you buy this from the shelf?

Does Canesten work straight away?

Think you can buy from the shelf, yes it should do.

You can buy it in the supermarkets, the pessary and cream is about �10 but i think the tablet is only available from a pharmacist but thats a bit dearer. The pessary works best over night but the cream stops the itchiness straight away. If your under 25 it is available on perscription for free.

Canesten does work straight away. If you can get to see your GP, it's cheaper on prescription.
One good tip I can pass on, is if you get thrush and can't get to your GP or a pharmacy, dip a tampon in PLAIN yoghurt. I know it sounds gross but it really does relieve the itching. A nurse told me about that one.
