Question about contribution based jobseekers alowance?

Hi, I just wanted to ask if anyone on here is/has claimed contribution jobseekers alowance? I have just started my claim and signed on for the first time today, but the jobcentre told me that my claim has still not gone through yet. I left my last job due to having postnatal depression and i also did not get on with another member of staff as they made me do all the work!! I'd just like to know how long it takes for your first claim to come through? I have tryed calling them but its always busy!!

technically your money is due 3 days after your first fortnightly signing but that is only if you have provided all the info (wageslips/P45 etc) that they have asked for, if you haven't you will have to give them time to get the info. They have somehting like 12 working days to process you claim, but a new sytem has just come into place in most areas and the processing staff have huge backlogs of work. remember if you left your last job you may be disallowed for a number of weeks.Keep trying to ring the enquiry line number, don't press redial though input the number each time.

Hi,
with all government related things it takes time. I had signed on three times before I actually saw any money. All I would get told on the signing on days was the claim was being processed. Then the money showed up! It will happen so hold on in there.
