Hi, My bath leaked and my kitchen ceiling got stained have tried to paint over it but stains come back through. Have tried gloss paint, stains still came through any suggestions to what i can use.

Stop wasting money on paint and have your ceiling skimmed, its sounds a dear way to solve the problem but it is 100% guaranteed. Remember to seal you plaster with a PVA based sealent before you paint it.
Another idea is to clad your ceiling with this new PVC tongue n grove boarding, looks fantastic but again its not cheap.

There is a proper stain sealer available from paint shops specifically for sealing in stains from the likes of water leaks - have used in in my own house - you dont have to go to the expense of re-skimming the ceiling - only an amateur would advise doing such a thing.

Thanks lads I will try the cheaper option first. If that doesn't work I will get them skimmed.

Hi psychogal,it's called Interior Seal Damp and is by a company called Blackfriar. I used it after exactly the same thing happened to you and my ceiling is spotless now.It was �6.99 for about a 250ml tin.Barb

aluminium paint also works well as a barrier.
