This one is not as daft as it looks Divide 100 between a given number of people Problem is, I hav'nt given you the number! So how many people and how much do they get?
That is how the problem was given to me but I am afraid I don't understand it
For it not to be as daft as it looks, I can only think that the use of 'between' rather than 'among(st)' is perhaps telling us that there are 2 people.
I agree with newarch. Between is traditionally used when there are only two people or things, although it is now used for when there are several instead of using amongst.
I'm pleased to hear that, Dee-M-See, but did the answer say how much money each received? As dzug pointed out, the question didn't say the money was divided equally.
Thanks newarch the answer given was 50.00 each
and a note saying using the word between usually meant two people, but there was no mention about equall amounts
