Not necessarily.

Is she totally dependant on you? Has she contributed financially?

Has she enabled you to earn more money by taking over household duties and offering emotional and practical support?

Do you have children?

How old are you both?

She may be entitled to part of your private too.

You need to get proper legal advice - she could claim she is entitled to more of the assets because, for example, she gave up her career and job prospects in her early 30s to care for you and it would be difficult to recreate her previous earning potential and she has seriously harmed her private pension.

Of course, the sensible thing would be for you and your wife to come to a mutually agreed settlement. Easier said than done.

Sadly, it is very difficult to get legal aid for these matters today.
