Poorly eyes!
5 Answers
My cats are prone to eye problems, not as in diseases, but every so often, Smokie Jo will get a very watery eye that has some gunky kind of stuff in the corner.
My partner has had this family of cats for a long time, and the cats he used to have in the family had this problem to.
I was wondering if there is something i can get that may help them, by making it less irritating for them? We cant really take the to the vets everytime it happens, as the last few weeks we have had alot of it and would of been to the vets atleast 8 times!
It doesnt seem to bother the older cats, but one of the tiny kittens seems to have it now, and his eye had stuck shut, so i have been bathing it with warm water ever so often, is this ok or should i add something else to the water?
Just besaically looking for some possible eye drops, or vitamin tablets that would help prevent it!

If you have a decent vet [as do I] he won't mind you trying to save some money!!!! A little tip for you.... When my kids get sore eyes I bathe the eye in a very weak tea and water solution [something to do with the tanin in tea] and this seems to help sooth the eye...... If I can do this to my kids I'm sure it will be OK for a kitty ;o]. Anyhoo....how is the brood getting on? Hope they [and you] are all well.

Hey Lisa :)
I have been wanting to call the vets and ask, but i dont want to seem like an over worried kitten mum, as i have called them a lot recently with advice over the kittens & my cats!
It just seems constant, at the mo we have 3 adult cats with a bad eye and now little Titan who is only 5 weeks. Have just gone to see him and it seems his other has sealed itself shut to :(
We have bathed both eyes to get rid of the sticky stuff and so he can open them.
Is it best to just do it say twice a day, or whenever the eye is stuck shut?
Could it cause any long term damage, like blindness in a kitten so young?
The rest of the babies are fine ta :) Little Cefa is doing fine, her leg is coming on fantastically! She is so adorable!!
xx

when i had my first son and he had a sticky eye the midwife told me to bathe in warm salt water a teaspoon of salt to a pint of water so since then when any of my animals need their eyes done that is what i use also had a semi wild kitten that had stuck eyes and vet gave him drops but also said to carry on with the salt water the water needs to be sterile so you need to boil it first good luck ruthx
please don't worry about 'bugging' your vet, that's what they're there for!! And if you do it over the phone it doesn't cost you a penny!!!!!!! ;o] So get all the advice you need from them. So glad that all is well aside from the eye problems, which don't sound to serious.....just enjoy them while they are bubbies!
