Google jack hargreaves and scroll down to out of town and there is a very good piece on the theme tunes used on the programme better to read it yourself as there is a lot to study.

yes but the later theme tune was played by guitar while the heavy horses pulled a plough but it is a classical tune with a long title which is why i have suggested looking it up to get the full story.
The theme music to 'Out of Town'/'The Old Country, Recuerdos DeLa Alhambra, written by Francisco Tarrega
was released by John Williams on an album (CBS 61843) and as a 45-rpm vinyl single by Juan Martin
(issued as 'Out of Town'). The earliest episodes featured a vocal theme of 'Out of Town' recorded by Max Bygraves.
