The first site reads low in IMHO
I am used to the twentieth century equation:
1914 �1
1971 �10 decimalisation
now �100
I didnt think the pounds varied much in the C19 which is reflected bythe table, it tends to stick at �40 rather than �100
NB 1890 -1900 the pound deflates and buys more in 1900 than it did in 1890 BUT infant mortality rises during the decade....
