-RW Disc problems

I have been using -rw discs for normal tv recording for months without problems. Now when I try to use some of them I get an ' unformated ' message on screen and cannot proceed further. Occasionally by inserting the disc a couple of times it will read but when it comes to recording it looks as if its ok but at the end of the recording the dvd shuts down without storing the recording. I have used a ' disc restorer ' on them without success. Also when I have tried to re-format the disc it will not allow me to do so. Any ideas as to what is going wrong?

if reformatting them on your dvd recorder does not work, try doing iton your pc (if you have a dvd recorder of course), if not try different discs
