We recently had a new bathroom suite fitted. The two bath taps were replaced with a mixer. Annoyingly, when we run the cold via the mixer we get a slug of orange water before it runs clear. Similiar tap on wash hand basin is okay.

What causes this orange coloured water?

It did not happen before we upgraded.

is this every time you run them or just the 1st time? If it was just the 1st time then its just the flux from inside the pipes from when they were soldered.

It is everytime.

However, I have found we only get the orange water if there has been a significant time gap.

It is as if it has to buid up.
