kcals to calories??????

please can anyone help.............
ive just bought and set up a pedometer for steps,miles and what i thought to be calories burnt.
sadly it shows kcals and ive no idea how to convert them to calories as after just one day it appears ive only burnt 42.8 calories.?????

kcals is the same as calories - it is just a lazy way of saying it.
Just work hard, sweat it off, youwill be fine, forget the bullocks on your digital display, train like Rocky.
Actually, if anything calorie is a lazy way of saying kcal (kilocalorie). In a scientific sense, one kilocalorie is 1000 calories, but nowadays the "real" calorie is rarely used and people use the term "calorie" to mean "kilocalorie".

I think you may have set up your pedometer wrongly.
hi jenstar - that is what I meant - I just didn't say it very well!!
I also have a pedometer and kcal is short for kilo calorie(the good old calorie).

Not sure what you have done but it must be wrong. I always use mine when I go out training( 5km walks) and over the whole walk mine says I have burnt just over 300 kcal which it fairly normal. Thats just for 45 minutes.
