fiesta or corsa
Dont touch a Corsa.
NORMANTHEDOG only suggested that so he can give you advice when it goes wrong.
Ford Fiesta.
well, a corsa is one of the best selling small cars in the uk.
Nothing wrong with Corsa's - Have had no problems with mine but have had more problems with my wife's Fix Or Repair Daily.
Can't go wrong with a Merc C Class Coupe as your first car.
Relatively cheap, low insurance and looks good. Total babe magnet, which helps.

You aren't going to pull anything in a corsa, let's face it.
Sorry, Clairey, just saw your name.

Ok, still the C Class... but girls DO look good driving them, especially in black.
Guys will think you have class and taste, where as a corsa does give the image that you holiday in Ibiza!
A good first car? Anything that you can get for 3 or 4 hundred quid or so and afford to insure; ignore the badge or any percieved status or style....... because you will likely put it in a ditch at some point, you then weigh it in for scrap and get another: it'll be a whole lot cheaper than making an insurance claim!!

Get through the first year without making any claims, THEN buy the car you want.

corsa is a good car or a nova
I'd try to go for something Japanese, a guy I know has a micra he bought for 200 as a cheap runabout (he commutes weekly from Hull to Aberdeen by air and keeps the micra up here for getting to work). It's economical, cheap to insure and hasn't gone wrong in the 8000 miles he's had it.

Don't be tempted to buy anything with too many gadgets, they are just more thigns to go wrong,. Try and buy something which is popular so that parts are easily and cheaply available.

A Skoda Fabia with the 1.2 litre twelve valve engine. Cheap to buy, insure and very reliable. Volkswagen engineered.
