Machine washing ineffective?

I wash my clothes in my machine on the 40 cotton cycle. I shower every morning and use spray on anti perspirant. After a few weeks of wearing, my polo shirts for work start to, how shall I say, get a bit whiffy around the armpit area.
What am I doing wrong? How can I get the shirts fully clean? I'm getting paranoid about being a smelly!
Thanks

Try using Mitchum roller ball anti perspirant. I think it has more to do with this than your washing machine.
Try the new Persil with added Febreze and make sure your washing machine is reaching the right temp. Also remove washing from machine as sopon as it's done as leaving it in there can lead to a fusty smell. Hope you soon come up smelling of roses!
I think most clothes would be a bit whiffy after a 'few weeks' of wearing.
Wash at 60 degrees. I don't care what it says on the label - 40 degrees does not cope with much at all.

What is this Mitchum Roller ball stuff? Is it available in the Uk?
And to the wise 4ss who thinks I wear my shirts for 3 weeks at a time.. :oP

I will try a 60 wash with Bio and see what happens.
Cheers
If the shirts are made with polyester then they seem to retain an odour whatever you do.

100% cotton and they don't.

My daughter has this problem with her work shirts, rest assured it's nothing to do with ypur personal hygiene Avatar!
I used to get this on Mr.S's white shirts after a while in spite of a 60 degree wash . They used to go yellowish under the armpits ! I think it's the deodorant that gets into the fabric somehow especially ones that contain alluminium ..Try a cupful of white vinegar in the final rinse cycle and a cupful of washing soda in the drawer along with what ever other powder or liquid you use . I got good results with that and I promise you the vinegar leaves no smell !

Cool, thanks Shaneystar.
Where do I get the white vinegar from?
You can get white vinegar from any of the large supermarkets.
it's the spray deoderant. try a stick. mabey old spice. that seems to be the only thing that helps my hubby.
before you wash the shirts, spray the armpits with vanish spray, always use bio deoderant and once in a while soak the shirts overnight in vanish powder before washing.
This seems to get the bacteia out.
