Smoking ban
From July 1st will smoking be ban from the streets, the bus stop, the park etc. I read a newspaper clipping and it said, 'pubs, bars, restaurants and public places'. What is a public place?

You will be able to smoke at bus stops, not in bus shelters.
In pub gardens, not inside the pubs.
A public place is anywhere that the public can go. You will not be able to smoke in the workplace - unless you work totally alone in your own building (at home perhaps).
Interestingly, if you are expecting a visit from anyone in their working capacity - a doctor, builder as examples - you will not be able to smoke in your own home whilst they are there.

I don't know how it is in Ireland and Scotland but even though smoking is still allowed in caf�s (until Feb 2008) in France there are loads more people now smoking in the street and outside offices and shops. It's a case of taking a deep breath before you walk through the nicotine cloud.
