In future I shall check before booking whether animals are allowed in the cabin and avoid any airline that does - unless of course the animal is in a locked box inaccessible to the animal's owner. During a flight it is possible that an animal might become agitated or even terrified. Under those circumstances I don't want the slightest possibility that it might be let out or escape.
It all depends on the size of the dog. Recently at Nice airport in terminal one - there was a lady taking an internal flight with a toy type dog - it didnt have a cage or anything. I imagine if that thing went a bit mad at 36000 ft a quick flick with your finger would put it out cold for the rest of the journey. I've never seen a doberman with it's own seat and buckle up belt !
I was once on a plane returning to Dubai and a young arabic girl had a doberman puppy that she got out of a cardboard carry on box and sat nursing it the whole way, she put it back in the box for landing and carried said box off the plane.Whether she was an ordinary passenger or one of the ruling family I dont know, but as she was in ecenomy seating I guess not.
