no sounds!

one day my laptop wouldnt work so i gave it to a friend who reinstalled windows xp....the only bad thing was that the sounds had gone...it will make some sounds but not play music . can anyone please help me?

Most laptops require special drivers to make some hardware components work.

Go to the company website (Toshiba, Acer or whatever) and see if you can find the drivers to download for your laptop.

ok..iv gone on the acer website but cant see anything to help me...do you know wher ei go from here?
