The SR500 was the road going version of the XT500 which was the Enduro style bike launched in the seventies.
I owned the XT500 and covered quite a few miles. The SR I am sure will give you lots of fun, a lovely torquey engine, stick it in top grear and twist the throttle.
These can be quite hard to kick over especially when hot, but when you have the knack should prove not to difficult. If it's cheap go for it.
