graphics card?

i was wondering if anyone could help me...
im after a new graphics card for my bf.. and havnt a clue which is best for around �100 can anyone help please?

You really need to know the system information of the computer it will be installed on and what you need the card to be able to do. Such as gaming or just surfing the net.

anything from the NVIDIA GForce series. they are all brilliant... so good infact that NVIDIA have helped make the PS3. check out the graphic quality on that and you will see..

i have gforce 8500... its goooddd...... and it only cost me �30

thats great thanks he mainly wants it for gaming. hes good at outting thing in the computer and fixing it and stuff im clueless just want to get him something he will enjoy... thanks for the advice!!

DONT buy him a graphics card unless you know a lot of information about his computer and what he wants to use it for.

Buying a graphics card is a difficult decision when you DO know all the information, buying one when in your words "you havent a clue" is not a good idea.

For example graphics cards can come in three formats (PCI, AGP or PCI Express). The connectors are different for each and if you buy the wrong card it will not fit into his computer.

Does he want one with a fan or not ?

Does he want one based on ATI or nVidia ?

Does he want to overclock ?

Does he play extreme games ?

I think it this case it is better to let HIM decide on the card he wants because if you buy the wrong card you will be wasting yor money.

Hi Kitty, after you have found out the interface of the board or even just the model of the motherboard post back and I'll give you some links for the best cards in the price range for gaming. I play games myself btw. You can find out the details of his computer by downloading this program which is free and will tell you everything you need to know:

Just download, install, run the program, and select "motherboard" and then "motheboard ID". This is the model of the board, tell me this and I'll advise you on the best card for the money.
