Punto prob

My bro -in-law just arrived in his punto, when he pulled up he lost all the water from his engine (was a mucky brown colour) and when we checked oil it was out. Does this mean the head has gone?? we have refilled the water and oil but the water seems to be dripping slowly out of the engine somewhere onto the road.
Not been a car minded person or him, i thought id try to ask someone who knows what theyre on about.

sounds like the head gasket has gone.if you do it yourself when you take the head off,to check if the head has warped smother the mating surfaces with oil and lay a flat piece of glass on top of it and see if theres any high spots{metal of the head will touch the glass}.if this is the case the head needs refacing.the oil and water circuits will need cleaning out and new oil,water and coolant added.hope this is usefull.
