locating car information

does anyone no any websites where you can input a car registration number and all the car details come up ie date of first reg, owners etc a friend of mine said you used to be able to do it on ebay but ive tried unsuccessfullly! thanks

RAC and DVLA have searches for car reg's the tell you when the tax is due and registered info - not names and addresses - that's confidential information.
