This has nothing to do with ads. But I need some advice.

I am trying to organise a 1970s Glam Rock party with music from T.Rex David Bowie etc. But I am in a dilemma. Gary Glitter was very popular in those days, however, something is telling me not to play his records due to the fking beast that we all know now that he is. Even though his music was popular should I even be thinking of playing his songs? Many thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I personally would not promote him.
However - however unsavoury he has become his records were not just him. on balance I would play one of the hit records for completeness but not mention his name - just the Glitterband who, I feel did all the hard work. He was just a front man.
if you take on kwillmott's suggestion, "Rock & Roll Part 2" would fit the bill since there's no lyrics (apart from "hey") - just the band doing their stuff
You can't have a 70s Glam night without Gary Glitter. It's just music, never mind the man himself. Sometimes you have to differentiate between the man and his art. Wagner was anti-semitic, but that shouldn't stop anyone from enjoying the works he composed.
We went to the last GG concert at Wembley before it all came to light and it was great but the thought of him now makes my skin creep. Play it safe and forget him theres plenty of 70's music that wont upset anyone
I would not play any of the nonces music. There is lots of good 70s music that you can play without resorting to playing the evil paedophiles works. When the music is played it will have different associations than the same music would have had in the 70s. A lot of people will be thinking about what he did rather than what he is singing, and could ruin the whole atmosphere of the evening. Nobody will notice if you just dont play any of the kiddy fiddlers music.
The Glitter Band had hits of their own without him so play their music but not his.
so its ok to play michael jackson records then.he has been no angel neither.
but his records still get played every where.
still it is your choice and yes you do have a great range of music to choose from of that era.
p.s...wheres the party
While Michael Jackson would not be my choice of babysitter, he has not been convicted. Gary Glitter has.

I do not play Michael Jackson either, and would not in similar circumstances
