You don't you learn a lesson and don't lend her it again, although, you could look at it the other way and let her have it as a gift. Afterall she did spend several thousands buying plimsoles and bait for you growing up.
Or
Depending on the amount get your case/evidence together and take her the small claims court costs about &75 quid I think. Be prepared to ruin your relationship with her for the sake of cash. Worth it?

do you have anything in writing?
try a soliciotors letter or small claims court if you have no other option.. 8 and a half is a lot of money she should be thanking you, perhaps shes embarrassed that she cant pay you back straight away? just a thought!
good luck!
to be honest i feel totally used and i feel that we were a means to an end, she has fallen in and out of her daughters life for many years and is very self conceited, my wife is of the same opinion, i just need to know what is the best way to get it back if anyone can help my family would really apreciate the advice
If she wont pay up and your determined to get the money from her file a claim at your county court in effect suing her.
It may be worth seeing a solicitor unless you know what your doing and have them do it for you. You never know a simple letter from a solicitor may get the required result.
i tried to call her and she became very abusive, i didnt even get to ask her about the money, she just was rude
it is a very sorry state of affairs, its been 2 years now and i have to work so very hard to make up for this, i owe this money to my bank, i will seek legal advice
