AOL has presented a major threat to PCs for many years. Thousands of people have ended up having to reformat their drive and re-install Windows after failed attempts to get rid of the stuff. (About ten years ago, I foolishly put some of their trial software on my PC. When the trial ran out, I found out that my PC wouldn't connect to my other ISP. The other ISP's support line helped me solve the problem but they said that nearly 90% of all their calls were about the same problem. Since then, successive versions of AOL software have got progressively worse at messing up people's PCs).
Fortunately, there does seem to be a solution to getting rid of AOL 9.0. Apparently CCleaner (which is a free download) will do the job. See here:
