the green book?

hi can anyone help me,
i'm looking for the name and author of a children's book.
either -
the book cover was purple and it was called 'the green book' or
it was green and called 'the purple book' ?!

it was a story about a girl and her family, everyone had to leave earth and start a new life on another planet, or something like that, they are only allowed to take a few things and she takes a book (either purple or green!)

can anyone help me please?!

How about "The Green Book" by Jill Paton Walsh?

One site says it's about a group of refugees from Earth who struggle to make their strange new planet provide life's necessities.

I had a look on Amazon here http://www.amazon.com/Green-Book-Sunburst/dp/0 374428026and it shows a picture of the cover which fits the description.
