When I was younger earwigs seemed to be everywhere, I hated them, but where are they now. I haven't seen one for years, has anybody else?

I live in Lancashire and we definitely have them around here. Haven't seen one this year yet, but saw quite a few last year.
I can assure you they are still around, you probably just don't delve into the same places as you did when you were a child.
not only earwigs but what about black and yellow striped caterpillers? They were everywhere when I was small.
Come to think of it I haven't seen so many lately. I used to get them indoors all the time
Last year, I was removing one of those plastic nut feeders for birds from a tree in my garden in order to refill it. Approximately forty earwigs were hiding in the base under the central conical piece - how do I know ?
Because most of them fell onto me !

No shortage of earwigs in North Yorkshire, although these were the first I had seen for many years.
