Hello Guys,
Mum has C for the 4th time. It's in her Liver and Lymph nodes in her pelivs. She has started Chemo which will last 6 weeks.
What I would like to know is are there any therapies, for example, can I ask mum's GP surgery if there are any Aromatherapists, Chiropodists (she has really bad feet), which can offer their services for no fee?
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

I think you should have been offered a support nurse/assistant/social worker at the hospital who could help you with things like this....(but if not, do ask)
So sorry your mum is having such an awful time of it. Wishing her all the very best. x

A member called Baby Jane has more experience in this area, as unfortuntely her mum has also been though it- so i'm sure when she gets a moment to come online she'll give you a more detailed answer. xxx

If you have a beauty dept at your local college they usually do treatments like massages aromatherapy etc at much lower cost than salons.
Although not medicinal these sort of things are good at relieving the stresses of going through such intensive treatment and it might be nice for your mum to feel pampered. Hope everything goes well for her x

Hello nat_84.
Oh, I am sorry about the bad news about your BF uncle.
What treatment will he have?
My mum has just started 6 weeks of chemo. The docs said she'll lose her hair and lose weight. Hopefully the chemo will work. The docs said that the chemo will only shrink the tumours but not get rid of them completely.
Nat i may help you to access the macmillan cancer website. This may help you and your BF, it certainly helps me when I read that we're not the only ones in a similar situation.

You can read other peoples situations and even start your own blog. That way you can talk about how the your BF uncle's treatment or condition is.
Please send my love and best wishes to you, your BF and most importantly his Uncle.

So sorry to hear about your mum - all we can do as family and friends is remain positive and offer our support.
Unfortunately i dont know much at this stage about his uncles cancer but they told him the same as what your mum was told, about it being incurable but they may be able to slow it down. I also know its Asbestos related as he's worked in garages. He's only 43 i believe, extremely healthy and youthful, never smoked - so boyfriend found it extremely hard to take as they are very, very close. Obviously its not easy for anyone to take and it just bloody frustrates me to be honest - the fact that when you want to say everything will be alright but feels as though you'd be lying!
This is the post i wrote on Friday after hearing our sad news - many people gave their experiences of cancer, and words of support - might be worth a quick read.
