I have a set up with a TV, VHS recorder and DVD recorder. I usually put an old video in and transfer it to DVD with no problem. However, a particularly old but valuable video keeps getting ejected from my VHS machine, as it has a slight dent in the case. It DOES play in my OLD VHS machine which I have in another room. So, I need to swap the VHS machines over. However... is this really complicated? Do I then have t tune them in? They are old with no instructions and the old VHS has no remote control anymore.
Any ideas how I can sort this out?!

No tuning should be necessary.

If you prefer to use the existing VCR, why not undo the cassette case and replace it with a good one ? It is not too difficult a task.
Have you tried fast-forwarding and rewinding a few times to 'loosen up' the tape (I also used to tap it a few times to align the tape).
