Please help! My brother has today come round and told me has had a 'chip' inserted in his head for some time, (I am supposed to remember this) and that there is a blackmail conspiracy involving 'hundreds' of people to 'get their story out there...' - he is utterly convinced that my house, and our parents' house, is bugged, and that all this is really happening.... and has been for the last 10 years.... what the **** do I do?

get him seen by his doctor tell him his doctor wants to hear his story
and do it ASAP!!

a lad a round here pulled his own teeth out because he was convinced his dentist worked for a gorvernment agency and had put tiny bugs( voice recorders) in his teeth!!!

thats the truth!!
Hi Josyjo,Im assuming he isnt winding you up,has he got any history of mental illness..or has this just happened out of the blue.Does he take any sort of medication?have you spoken to your parents.
I agree with rugeleyboy, you cant afford to waste time with this sort of thing, he needs some help, and you cant be expected to deal with this alone. Don't let the doctors fob you off either!
Good Luck!

Thanks guys, my parents are as worried as I am, if not more - he was searching their attic for bugs the other day... Getting him to the doctor is going to be nigh on impossible - as far as he is concerned, all that he believes is true.... and the doc would be in on the conspiracy...
He did have a similar episode a few years ago, but it seemed to disappear of its own accord - I just fear so much for his welfare, and that of those around him.. I find it so frustrating to talk to him, because he won't see 'sense'! Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

Your answers are all absolutely right. He needs to see a doc ASAP. But how do I GET him there?
You need to talk to someone proffessional who can advise you on what can be done to help him josyjo. I dont know how the system works but if he needs help, something will be available for him even if he doesnt want it, im sure.
Suerly with a mental health issue, if you explain what hes like someone should come out and see him. There are ways round this.

Thanks Julie... I'll give my own doctor a call tomorrow, see if he can point me in the right direction.
Makes you think, tho.... if he believes this so completely, he could be a danger to anyone he sees - although he isn't a violent person at all, if you truly believe you are threatened,...... you know?
if he starts to get out of control you can get him taken into a "specialist" hospital!!

speak to your doctor about this, they should give you great advice.........mine did when my wife had severe PND!!!!

Thanks Rugeleyboy - I really appreciate everyone's answers.
Next question has to be, what if HE'S right, and I'M delusional????? :-)
Jus gonna go check my brain for microchips.......
He might need to be sectioned. I use to work in a 'special' hospital.

There could be a number of things wrong with him but from what you describe I would get your Mum, Dad and yourself down to the doctors and explain exactly what's happening. The doctor will then tell you the options. You want to do it quickly, as you never know what he may do.

He sounds like he could have paranoid schizophrenia.
Hello josyjo, I may be completely wrong, but it sounds very much like the symptons somebody I worked with had, please look at this link and see if it has similarities to his symptons, don't be alarmed by what you read all conditions are treatable, but he needs help, NOW !! good luck, Ray xx

Am I the only one who, after reading this person's last post, is of the opinion that this person has set you all up?
I hope not......as that would be sick. Don't ya think?
strange thing to say but if you have to keep one thing in an emotional time i would ask for my sense of humour???
I think you are very wise then ruge.you must never lose that.
It's exactly like" A Beautiful Mind" where Russell Crowe believes he's working for a shadowy Government agency, and that he has a chip in his arm. It's a true story, too, and might help you understand how your brother's mind is working. It's an excellent film - not entertaining really, but informative, definitely. Makes it all seem more understandable - might help a little??
If your brother refuses medical help...and he needs it for his state of mind/health/safety then a psychiatrist can come and do an assesment test on him and if necessary with another doctors consent he can be sectioned under the mental health act.
Good luck to you and your family

Thank you for all of your responses, and can I just confirm that I have NOT set anybody up, but was asking a real question, due to a real situation that I find myself facing. Thankyou again to everybody who has taken me seriously and passed on their thoughts. My sense of humour has seen me through a few difficult times, and does not in any way mean that I am not entirely sincere, thank you.
