what are you allowed

i am going on holiday in 4 weeks and flying from manchester to turkey.
i have heard rumours about what you are allowed in your hand baggage ie. no food,personal stereos,etc.
can some one please advise me on what you are allowed please.

Basically one bag only per person to be taken on board, liquids (creams, shampoo, medicines) max 100ml to be put in clear plastic ziplock bag (sandwich size bag. If you take a lap top that counts as your 1 bag and you would have to put anything else inside the laptop bag.

mp3's, gameboys etc are fine now.
the airlines are still strict on liquids though.
