I am siting my driving test in my own car, will they accept a cover note as proof of insurance?

You do not have to produce your insurance on a driving test.

At the start the examiner will ask you to sign a deceleration that your car is insured for you to drive on a driving test. He will not ask for any documents apart from your photo card licence and counterpart.

It is advisable to take your appointment letter and theory test certificate (although not compulsory).

i have just done this - you MUST take your theory test certificate.
you must take your passport
you must show your mot and insurance certificate
one examiner looked throroughly another just glanced, but you must be able to prove the car is roadworthy and insured for you to drive.

you also need a little stick on mirror for the examiner to use - like a rearview one - got them in halfords.

if you go to the dvla website it is all there.

i don't know what you mean by cover note - one you have written?

get the insurance company to fax it theough urgently - the library will let you use their fax

It is NOT compulsory to produce your theory test certificate if you hold a valid one.

You do NOT have to produce a passport when you have a photocard licence.

Your vehicle must be in roadworthy condition (including an additional interior mirror which can be used by the examiner) and of course displaying L plates.

You do NOT have to produce your insurance or MoT certificate.

I have been doing the job for 28 years and have never asked for insurance or MoT documents.
Passports were needed as photographic identity during the change from the old style licence to the newer photocard type.

Check on the DSA website. They conduct tests, not DVLA.
