Any tips? I'm having a nightmare getting comfortable shoes fro work and spent a fortune on yet another pair at the weekend but they damn near crippled me today. I bought some spray stuff that is supposed to loosen them but it aint worked so far!!! Help! Surely being size 8 and female isn't THAT un-usual!

clothes size has nothing to do with it.

just try and wear them in around the house for a couple of days
I think she means shoe size 8, not dress size :-)

Stuffing them with damp newspaper is supposed to stretch them although I can't say that I have tried it myself.

You are supposed to use the spray along with the shoe stretchers that you can buy, see here

Why would I have meant clothes size!!! I heard the newspaper idea, just didn't want to make them all ruined inside with print!
If they are leather, they will stretch but you can give them a helping hand by dampening them and then squeezing your feet into them while wearing a pair of socks (as thick as you can) and wearing them until they dry

Or if you have a friend with feet a size or half size bigger you could get them to squeeze their feet in - i used to do this for my mum!
My mum has the same problem - she takes a size 8 shoe too. So I would like to know the answer
take them to a cobbler and ask him to stretch them a little bit, try them and if you need them a bit more ask him to do a little bit more until they feel ok. i have the same prob (so do my two collegues) and we all take them to him. it will only cost you a couple of quid and its well worth it

Thank-you...it is such a pain having big feet!
You may have solved your problem by now but I had the same problem and someone told me to put freezer bags in the shoes, then fill with water and tie securely and then pop the shoes in the freezer. The idea is that frozen water expands and would thereby expand the shoe - I tried it and it worked! Not fabulously as the shoes are still a little tight but not as tight as before.

Ooo, sounds interesting!! I hope the bags don't split!
