My grandma and I are convinced David Gest is Jewish (any other would agree with me) but (and despite the crosses he wears) I can find no data on this anywhere. There is jewhoo.com but due to not being very nice to their members is now out of business in it's earlier searchable form.
Does anyone have the inside gen? And if he turns out not to be, he should be!

Wow, they've all come out the woodwork here- how many answers shall I report?
One anti semite, yes.
What does a jew look like? Me.

I don't worry about how he looks, it's the mannerisms and grasp of Yiddish that gives it away. Now does anyone actually know or are you all going to carry on being clever?
Why dont you just look on Google if your so desperate to know? I did and found the answer in less than a minute.
David Gest is brilliant.

I've only seen one episode of This Is David Gest and I'm in awe of him. Yiddish or not...irrelevent...he's the king.

I just wouldn't want to work for him.
Oh of course he is Jewish. Bloody obvious!

I looked all over the net and any trace of an answer is conspicuous by its absence. You seem t have got lucky there. But jewhoo was the only site people could find out for many uncertain celebrities but they packed up and there's nowhere else to search directly. It's just something most of us like to know. Some would surprise everyone and even the Jewish papers often get it wrong.

I found one reference and even that's partial due to a bad link.

For a Jewish child, with the bafflement comes a feeling - ridiculous, in a way, ... The first line of David Gest's autobiography sets the tone for this story of ...

At least we called that one right, and David, lose the crosses!

This is a perfect example. Yesterday after all these years I found another surprise, Andrew Sachs, the assumed jew, is Andreas Sachs, a German catholic with a Jewish father. We think we know and then we find the truth and get a surprise. But it's always nice to know one way or another and not assume.
In his book he says that his parents were jewish but he "believed in christianity from a young age".
