I am on dial up modem broadband Orange) on my main PC . How would I connect my laptop to main Pc any suggestions please

The simplest way is to buy a connecting network cable (called a crossover cable), assuming that your Broadband modem plugs into a USB port. Then use thw Network Wizard on both computers to make a network between the two.
If your Broadband modem uses the network port on your main computer, you can buy two wireless adapters, either both USB, or one USB (for your laptop) and a PCI one for your desktop.
Then use the Network Wizard to set up a wireless network.
The wireless option is probably a better one since you will be able to use the laptop away from the desktop.
Third option - get a broadband router, which has a wireless option and connect both of them to that.

I think armyboy has called it dial up because when you set it up you have to select the dial up option for establishing a connection.

Thank you for messages now understand what to do Re the question by Ethel re dial up yes Orange broadband modem is called a dial up speedtouch by them . it is their starter kit .Quite surprised it is not steam powered Only changed to this as had a year of problems with their wireless livebox and spent about 3 months of that with no services.

the "number" is the MTUconcentrator the variable is the hg
so if you use
[e-mail]
the hg number for trafficbalancing and is variable with your details (hg21, 55 etc will also work) and [e-mail]
will also work if the ISP is the same... clever eh!
Using VPN it's even more like dialup and VOiP completes the set
