I have a problem with my PC that requires a fresh system software install of Windows XP but I do not have any Bootable CD's with it. The original owners said that you can do this on-line...is this true? I may have to purchase a new Windows XP I guess? Thanks in advance.
Usually the back up of xp is in a hidden partion on the hard drive if the machine came with it preinstalled. Failing that it would have been loaded via an installation cd which the previous owners would of had, if you can not find either you can try & borrow a copy of xp from someone you know with an install cd & enter the coa licence which should be printed on the sticker on the side of your pc.
I don't know about doing it on line but as long as you can get the original product key from your unit (it may be on a sticker) you could borrow an XP CD from a friend and put your code in when it asks you for it.
